RSS = Really Simple Syndication

FIRST, AN EXPLANATION

RSS is a format for delivering regularly changing web content. Many news-related sites, blogs and other online publishers syndicate their content as an RSS Feed. You subscribe to these feeds to let them know that you want to receive it.

RSS Feeds allow you to easily stay informed by not needing to visit each site individually to get their latest posts.

HOW TO RECEIVE RSS FEEDS

Feed Reader or News Aggregator software allows you to grab the RSS feeds from various sites and display them for you to read at your convenience.

WHICH AGGREGATOR TO USE?
You’ll want to choose one that’s appropriate to the platform or type of device you’re using.
Rather than posting a grocery list of the various sites, here’s a link to a handy web site that lists some good choices: RSS INFO

As a Mac user, I will say that my favorite is NetNewsWire. It uses the native Mac format that you’re accustomed to from iTunes, Safari, etc. You can create file folders based on topic, and it lets you send an item to Instapaper so you can read it later when you might not be on an Internet connection.

I hope this helps you stay on top of all those blogs and news articles you want to read. Finding the time to read them is another matter altogether, and you're on your own there.
